Simon Klingert

Biography

Simon Klingert is a freelance photojournalist and writer specialized on documenting wars and armed conflicts. He is a contributor to the photo agencies actionpress in Germany and ZUMA Press in the United States as well as to other international publications.

Since 2005 he has covered the conflict in the Middle East as well as the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, often reporting directly from the front lines. In 2007, Simon worked as an editor and teacher for Ainaphoto, an Afghan Media NGO in Kabul, training young Afghans in photography.

In 2009, Simon graduated from the university in Nuremberg- Erlangen, Germany with a degree in political science. As an analyst, he has focused extensively on topics such as asymmetric warfare, COIN doctrine and operations, foreign internal defense and information operations. He has conducted research in both in Iraq and Afghanistan, including a 6 month project about the strategic reality on the front lines in Eastern and Southern Afghanistan in 2009.

Simon has been published in various domestic and international news media. Simon's images have been displayed as part of the exhibition »Conflict and Contrast« in London in 2008, which was hosted by the Bristish Ministry of Defense.
